EPS (Expandable Polystrene)
Polystrene Hard Foam
Expandable polystyrene hard foam is a thermoplastic insulating material
produced from petroleum.
Static air is deposited in lots of tiny and closed porous cells (3-6
billion per 1 m3 EPS Polystyrene Hard Foam) inside its structure. These
pores provide excellent heat insulation.
98% of the material is air. Thus, it's a light material. In general, it
is produced as 10-30 kg/m3. (EPS Expandable Polystyrene Hard Foam heat
insulation plates will be produced as 15-20-25-30-35 kg / m3 as of 2001
as a result of the revision of current EPS standard in the frame work of
New Heat Insulation Directory came into effect on 14.06.2000 and of TS
825 "Obligatory Rules of Heat Insulation in Buildings" upon the request
of our Association)
EPS, one of the few materials providing the best Heat Insulation in the
world, is really economical when compared to the other materials.
EPS - Expandable Polystyrene - Heat Insulation Plates;
1. PROVIDE HIGH HEAT INSULATION. (Heat conductivity measurement value is
0.033)
2. PRESSURE RESISTANT. As the density increases, resistivity also
increases.
3. Because it is closed porous, it does not get wet practically, it
insulates continuously. It is not capillary and hygroscopic.
4. ITS THICKNESS DOES NOT GET THIN WITH TIME; IT REMAINS CONSTANT.
5. IT HAS HIGH VAPOR IMPERMEABILITY.
6. WATER ABSORPTION VALUE: It has excellent water impermeability (water
absorption value of a 28 KG/m3 and 5 cm sample in 7 days of immersion
period is 0.03%)
7. IT IS FRIENDLY TO ENVIRONMENT. DOES NOT CONTAIN CFC THAT HARMFUL TO
OZONE LAYERS IN ITSELF AND IN ITS PRODUCTION.
8. ENDLESS LIFE PERIOD.
EPS is also commonly used in package sector.
Today 2.2 MILLION TONES / YEAR OF EPS RAW MATERIAL IS PRODUCED in the
world.
